Our First Adventure... by Penguin with Photos by Emily, Eric, Mary

A road trip. How fun. Straight out of our plastic packages and into a car. All of us went.
Fox, Porcupine and Chipmunk were choosen to run into the Texas Visitor center to get maps. Texas is a huge place and so was this Visitor Center. Can you see Eric holding Porcupine and Chipmunk up for their picture ?

Here look through the binoculars !

At the very top of the steps, after a 20 minute climb in 100 degree heat, Fox found this super perch.

What a wonderful place this Center is. It looked like a small library inside and the ladies helped us find several brochures on cowboy celebrations and bat caves. We used the very clean restrooms and were ready to leave. Back out on the Entry Patio we saw the flags . WOW how beauitful ! We got so excited that Chipmunk and Porcupine jumped into what they thought was a sand box with beautiful silver sides so they could view the flags and play in the sand while the humans got cameras out to take pictures.

See these cute humans with the hot bright sun glaring into their eyes. These our our kids and we really love them but OH Boy were they tired by now. This has been a long drive. The motel is only an hour away. SO what did they do... Yep they hurried off to the car.
Half way to the motel the kids decided to play with the puppets. Oh great Were are Chipmunk and Porcupine !!!! Grandma put in a quick call to Aunt Martha. "Call the Texas Visitor Center and Tell them our little guys are playing in the sand can outside the main doors, Please." With that rescue job given to Aunt Martha the kids continued on.
Meanwhile at the Texas Visitor Center the ladies had found us and thought we were left as a joke because the chipmunk is their mascot. They were extremely nice ladies and had given our family loads of advice on things to do in Texas BUT We puppets wanted to see Texas with them and we were so sad... but safe. The Visitor Center ladies were so happy to have us but when Aunt Martha called they laughed and laughed and we understood from their happy banter that our kids were coming back in four days to take us home with them. Hooray but we would miss them AND miss seeing Aunt Martha and Uncle Nolan.
Meanwhile those humans arrived at their, motel, got right into the pool, and floated in the sun warmed Texas water.

The next day they went on to Houston and to our Aunt and Uncle's home.
Here is their account:
Here is their salt water pool where they had fun with their Cousin.

Here is our Uncle and Cousin in one of his many gardens.

The three kids meet the neighbor's Mastiff puppy .
